ALHFA -- SMB3 -- First Half of Season

Now that we have met all of the teams and gone through the structure of the league, it is time to have them all play it out.

This process is fairly straightforward. I jumped up through the schedule and simulated the first 81-ish games for each team. We will be able to see win-loss records, how many games back a team is from first place, and every teams' run differential.

Leading the way after the first half of the season is Humble Bregman in the Comerica Park Division, with a 47-34 record, as well as a whopping +59 runs scored. Pacing the Tigers Stadium Division are the WARmongers at 44-38, also putting up some great offense with a +49 run differential.

The only other two teams over .500 are Custer Custards (with a negative run differential?) and Throwin's Skubals (with an even 0 run differential). Only other positive team in runs scored is Wood Chips at +24. However, no team looks to be completely out of the race, as Athens Process and Home Run Homer are eight and nine games back, respectively, in the Comerica Park Division. Big Cats, Brown Water Trash and Bichette'$ Creek all within six games of the leader in the Tigers Stadium Division.

Now let's take a look at our leading offensive players.

Only two batters are hitting better than .300, Jose Abreu and Kevin Kiermaier. Abreu leads in RBI, and Nelson Cruz is topping the home run leaders. Abreu also leads in slugging and OPS, with Jose Ramirez not far behind in both categories.

Abreu tops the list in hits and extra base hits, and is in the top three for runs scored as well. Most runs scored goes to Bo Bichette, and Randy Arozarena leads in stolen bases.

Don Kelly of the Athens Process has struck out 78 times.

Now for our pitching leaders.

Marco Gonzalez has the lowest ERA, and places in the top 10 in WHIP. Conversely, Collin McHugh leads in WHIP and is top ten in ERA. Shohei Ohtani leads with 10 wins, and Taylor Rogers leads with 25 saves.

There is a three-way tie for the strikeout leaders, as James Paxton, Gerrit Cole and Chris Sale each have 129. Ohtani and Aaron Civale are close behind with 122 strikeouts each. Cole and Paxton lead in K/9, and Ohtani and Trevor Rosenthal are each showing a mastery of the strike zone, with the lowest BB/9 as highest K/BB ratio.

Don Kelly of the Big Cats has eight wins.

Here is what the MVP race looks like.

Sean Manaea from the Wood Chips places in the top two for wins, ERA and WHIP, which helps pace him to the top of the list. Marco Gonzalez also is in the top three in wins and ERA, and top 10 for WHIP, putting him closely behind.

Not surprisingly, Jose Ramirez and Jose Abreu are the top two hitters, and are the next two players on the leaderboard for the MVP race. Other familiar names on the list are Sale, Ohtani, Cole, Cruz, and Paxton. Ryan Yarbrough is the other new name on the list, rounding out the top 10.

That is what the league looks like after roughly one half of the season. There is still a lot of baseball to be played, and we could see some surprise performances in the second half, with the possibility of some movement in the standings.

Who will advance to the playoffs? Who will win MVP? Check back tomorrow to see how that second half plays out.
